From January 30 until February 07, our teaching block on the topic “Enterprise Service Management: business models, design and implementation” at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich took place for the first time. The course contents have mainly been developed by our colleague Kathrin Fueller who also acted as the lecturer of the teaching block at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich.

The course offered the students exciting insights in possibilities and advantages of company-wide service models and their technical and company-specific implementation. Due to the practice-oriented design of the teaching block, the students were not only able to acquire theoretical knowledge about methods, models and tools, but could also apply the new models for example to develop IT-strategies, to map business models or to design innovative business models for new technologies such as 3D printers or Virtual Reality. On the last day, the course ended with a joint lunch at our Media Solutions office. Here, the students got the chance to gain practical insights in consulting and development projects related to Enterprise Service Management and made hands-on experiences with the ServiceNow platform, the market leader in the Enterprise Service Management market.

The feedback we received from the students for our teaching block was consistently all positive. So after a successful start, we are already looking forward to the upcoming winter semester 2017/18 when we will again have the chance to discuss exciting market developments in the fields of digitalization and Enterprise Service Management and to develop future oriented ideas and business models together with a group of young, motivated students.
